No observation has been published. When one is, it enters with its date, its source and its discipline, in one of four states.
- Watching
- A change noticed and placed in a discipline. No claim is made about its consequence.
- Developing
- Context is being gathered: incentives, constraints, competing explanations. The observation is provisional.
- Material
- The evidence supports a stated consequence: what the change could alter, and for whom.
- Resolved
- Tested, published as research, or closed. It stays on the register with its outcome.
